With staff who have expertise in caring for diabetes across the ages, we can offer you comprehensive and ongoing care. Just like a general practitioner or endocrinologist would. This includes referring you to other health care professionals, ordering diagnostic tests and pathology, and prescribing diabetes and related medications, if required. We also understand that emergencies and crises usually happen outside normal business hours, so we provide phone contact to complement the care provided by your other health care providers.

The pump start is the right package if your Endocrinologist or General Practitioner would like us to work closely with you for the first three to six months after you start insulin pump therapy. We will work closely with you for the first 6 months, during this time we will maintain phone and email contact with you each week until your blood glucose levels have settled and you are feeling comfortable with using your insulin pump. At a time that is right for you, we will arrange for you to have a week of continuous glucose monitoring (valued at up to $100). We will also arrange one or two follow up visits between 3 and 6 months so we can introduce you to some of the more advanced features of your insulin pump.

This service is designed for people who are already using insulin pump therapy and know what brand and model of insulin pump they want. The cost of this service covers us liaising between your private health fund and the insulin pump company to get your new insulin pump for you. It also includes a face to face visit for us to program and hand over your new pump and to brush up on your pumping skills.

Ensuring you are in optimal nutritional shape before pregnancy is vital to giving your baby the best start. Managing a pregnancy while living with diabetes can be challenging, but it is possible. Depending on your glycaemic control and current dietary habits, between 1- 3 appointments with us can give you all the tools you need to make sure you are eating well and feeling confident about what may happen during your pregnancy. In particular, how you will manage your diabetes during this time. It is ideal to start thinking about your diet and eating habits about 6 months before attempting to become pregnant.

For those taking mealtime insulin, there is no doubt that carb counting can be tedious. However, it is the best way to ensure you are matching your insulin doses as accurately as possible. This will help with weight management and reduce hypoglycaemia risk as well as allowing maximum flexibility with your diet. Carb counting is a skill that can take a while to master but you can choose the level at which you use it – because what you do needs to be what works best for you! We can take you through the ins and outs of carb counting and along with guided home blood glucose monitoring determine your insulin: carb ratio to give you maximum dietary flexibility. Carb counting can also be a useful way of managing your intake if you are keen to reduce your body weight. A series of 3 appointments will provide you will all the basics to get you on your way.

It is easy to put weight on, it is much harder to take it off. Despite what you see on TV, exercise is often not the answer. Successful weight loss is all about working out what eating plan is right for you. Some people do well with prescriptive diets whereas others prefer a weight loss approach that is more flexible. For others, a combination of lifestyle, medication or bariatric surgery may be the best answer. Regardless of which approach you use, ongoing support seems to be essential.

An appropriate referral from your general practitioner or endocrinologist is required to access Medicare subsidised care. The quoted service costs are mostly out of pocket, however Medicare rebates may be applicable for some vista depending on which member of the team you see and service you require. We are happy to provide you with advice about this at the time of booking your appointment.

Consultation fees are payable on the day by cash or credit card, although packages can be paid for in installments. We ask you to give us at least 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend or a cancellation fee may be applicable.
