With staff who have expertise in caring for diabetes across the ages we can offer you comprehensive and ongoing care, just like a general practitioner or endocrinologist would. This includes referring you to other health care professionals, ordering diagnostic tests and pathology, and prescribing diabetes and related medications, if required. We also understand that emergencies and crisis usually happen outside normal business hours so we provide phone contact to complement care provided by your other health care providers.

A week of continuous glucose monitoring can be extremely useful if you would like to take a closer look at your blood glucose levels or to develop or refine a strategy around something new in your life. This package includes two visits as well as the loan of a continuous glucose monitoring system and free sensor. Once you have worn the monitoring system for a week we will work closely with you to identify any changes you may need to make to your diabetes treatment.

An increasing number of people are choosing to buy their own continuous glucose monitoring system. This service includes us meeting with you to discuss your continuous glucose monitoring options, helping you with the ordering process and teaching you how to use the system, including downloading and interpreting the results. (Note: the price of this package is discounted to $200 if it is combined with any of our other packages)

Attending visits can be difficult so if you would like us to provide you with ongoing advice about your diabetes over the phone or email we are happy to do so. This package covers weekly contact for 3 months.

The basic pump start package includes two extra long face-to- face appointments and is designed for people who are going to be in regular contact with their Endocrinologist in the first few weeks and months after starting on an insulin pump. During the first appointment we will talk to you about your needs and what your options are. We will then work behind the scenes, liaising between your private health fund and the insulin pump companies to get your insulin pump for you. We will also give you some homework to do, such as practicing to count the carbohydrate in your meals. The second appointment is when we will start you on your insulin pump.

The deluxe pump start is the right package if your Endocrinologist or General Practitioner would like us to work closely with you for the first three to six months you after you start insulin pump therapy. In addition to the services included in the Basic Pump Start Package, we will maintain phone and email contact with you each week until your blood glucose levels have settled and you are feeling comfortable with using your insulin pump. At a time that is right for you we will arrange for you to have a week of continuous glucose monitoring (valued at up to $100). We will also arrange one or two follow up visits between 3 and 6 months so we can introduce you to some of the more advanced features of your insulin pump.

This service is designed for people who are already using insulin pump therapy and who want to upgrade to the same brand and model of insulin pump. The cost of this service covers us liaising between your private health fund and the insulin pump company to get your new insulin pump for you. It also includes a face to face visit for us to programme and hand over your new pump and to brush up on your pumping skills.

If you need to upgrade your insulin pump and would like to explore what is new in the world of insulin pumps, this is the service for you. We will show you the very latest insulin pumps on the market and discuss the pros and cons of each. Once your new pump organised we will meet with you to train you to use the various features of the pump and discuss how you can use your pump to live life to the full.

This service is designed for people who would like a full refresher course on using insulin pump therapy and who would like us to work closely with them for the next 3 to 6 months to smooth their blood glucose levels out or to help them develop strategies around different activities or stresses in their lives.

Ensuring you are in optimal nutritional shape prior to embarking on a pregnancy is important to give your baby the best start. Managing a pregnancy while living with diabetes is a challenge but totally possible. Depending on your glycaemic control and current dietary habits, between 1- 3 appointments with our dietitian will give you all the tools you need to make sure you are eating well and feeling confident about what a pregnancy will entail and how to manage your diabetes through this period. It is ideal to start thinking about your diet and eating habits about 6 months prior to starting to try for a pregnancy.

For those taking mealtime insulin there is no doubting that carb counting can be tedious but it really is the best way to ensure you are matching your insulin doses as accurately as possible. This will help with weight management and reduce hypoglycaemia risk as well as allowing maximum flexibility with your diet. Carb counting is a skill that can take a while to master but you can choose the level at which you use it- because what you do needs to be what work best for you! Our dietitian can take you through the ins and outs of carb counting and along with guided home blood glucose monitoring determine your insulin: carb ratio to give you maximum dietary flexibility. Carb counting can also be a useful way of managing your intake if you are keen to reduce your body weight. A series of 3 appointments will provide you will all the basics to get you on your way.

It is easy to put weight on, it is much harder to take it off. Despite what you see on TV, exercise is often not the answer. Successful weight loss is all about working out what eating plan is right for you. Some people do well with prescriptive diets whereas others prefer a weight loss approach that is more flexible. For others, a combination of lifestyle and bariatric surgery may be the best answer. Regardless of which approach you use, ongoing support seems to be essential. For this reason we offer a number of 12 week weight loss packages, offered by various members of our team, depending on your age, starting weight, goals and medical history. Each package offers regular face to face appointments as well as phone contact.
Our Integrative Health Coach is available to partner with you to help you plan and make positive changes to your health. She uses a practiced process to assist you identify what is important to you and to develop a personal health plan and set realistic goals. Working one-on-one, usually over a three month period, you will receive support, develop practical strategies and get the resources you need to work towards make long lasting change.
A Medicare Rebate of between $33.80 and $52.45 is available for some visits, depending on which member of our team you see. An appropriate referral from your general practitioner or endocrinologist is required to access the rebate. We are happy to provide you with advice about this at time of booking your appointment.
Consultation fees are payable on the day by cash or credit card, although packages can be paid for in instalments. We ask you to give us at least 24 hours notice if you are unable to attend.
